Frequently Asked Questions

I registered for a class but haven't received any confirmation that my registration went through. Now what?

Your registration activity should have triggered an automatic notification email to confirm your order. Please check your spam or promotions folder for emails from us, and add both [email protected] and [email protected] so you don't miss out on important communications. If you still can't find your confirmation email, please contact us at [email protected] to confirm directly with us.

Why don't you offer drop in classes?

While we do offer the occasional pop-up class, a more relaxed schedule for our summer classes, and of course one free demo class for you to try out our program, we do not offer "drop-in" style classes during our academic sessions in the Fall, Winter, and Spring. There are a few important reasons for this. We are a licensee of Music Together®, LLC, and have agreed to follow their guidelines to provide the Music Together® and Rhythm Kids® curriculum. The program is founded on decades of academic research into the way that young children acquire musical skills and knowledge. Repetition and routine are one of the best ways to ensure long-term retention of learning. Our 8- to 10-week sessions give children time to adjust to the new environment, observe and absorb the music in class, learn to predict what's coming next, and assure themselves (by watching their trusted adults having fun) that our classes are a safe space to experiment and explore all of the new information they're receiving. We also change song collections every session, so having classes every week allows parents and caregivers to learn the songs in the first few weeks so we (teacher and grown-ups) can explore the songs in the collection in enriching and challenging ways to truly build a musical community in class, and give the children a memorable, enriching msucial experience. There are other reasons too - bonding happens over time, and you and your little one may find your new besties in class. Class isn't as engaging with only a few families, so it's important for us as teachers to know that we will have a minimum number of families in class every week to make the class feel "alive" and that doesn't always happen with drop-in style registration. For more reasons to make the commitment to our full session, read some of our parent testimonials HERE.

How do I access my music online?

1.There  are two ways to listen to your music online:

  • From a computer or laptop, visit the Music Together Family Music Zone®
  • From a tablet or phone, download the Music Together App available through the Apple Store and Google Play

2. Create your Music Together profile on one of these platforms.
Important: You will use that one profile and log-in information in the App and at the Family Music Zone® website.
Do you want to access music on more than one device, or give access to additional caregivers? We ENCOURAGE password sharing!

3. Once you have created your Music Together profile and logged in, look at the inside cover of the songbook you received in class. Look for the individual code printed there.

  • To unlock in the App: Find the Enter a Collection Code link in the app menu, then enter your code and click the Submit button. Your song collection is now unlocked in both the App and the Family Music Zone®.
  • To unlock in the Family Music Zone®: go to the home page, and look for Access Code on the right-side menu bar. Enter the code in the space provided. Your collection is now unlocked in both the App and the Family Music Zone®. In the Family Music Zone®, you can listen to your song collections and learn about your child's musical development!

I know I'm going to miss a class. What is your make-up policy?

We have a very liberal make-up policy. Basically, you are welcome to make up a missed class in any other class during the session you are enrolled. We also typically hold demo/make-up classes between our regular sessions that you are welcome to attend as a make-up as well. At this time, you do not need to register for make-ups, just show up to any other class during the current session.

Will we have class if it's snowing?

Morning classes:
We follow the school closure schedule for Bellingham School District. If there's no school that day or a late start, we will not hold classes. If class falls during a schoolholiday, your teacher will decide whether to hold class and send out notifications by text, email, and WhatsApp.

Later afternoon/evening classes:
Teacher Heather will track the weather and make a decision on the day of class based on current conditions. If driving conditions are treacherous by 1pm on the day of class, then class will most likely be canceled. If there is a warming trend and roads seem to be mostly clear by 1pm, then we will most likely hold class. Notifications will be sent to enrolled families by text, email, and WhatsApp.

I'd love to join a class, but it's not in our family budget right now. Are there scholarships available?

Yes! We have a limited number of partial and full scholarships available each session. Please contact our Center Director, Teacher Heather, at [email protected] to find out about scholarship availability.
